Slugfest Coaches Clinic


What is SlugFest 2018? The mission of SlugFest is to provide the most comprehensive hitting specific coaching clinic in the country.  SlugFest is being founded on three ideals: 1.) To connect some of the most respected coaches from the highest levels in the game with youth and amateur coaches while providing the highest quality of hitting content to coaches at all levels. 2.) To provide this information at a low, affordable cost to coaches who coach more out of passion than for money. Our mission is to provide coaches with high-level content that rewards their passion at an affordable price. 3.) To help grow the game of baseball by improving the quality of youth coaching. SlugFest is a coaching clinic organized by coaches, for coaches, and in the spirit of not only teaching our players, but each other as well.

Who are the SlugFest 2018 Speakers? Luis Ortiz (Los Angeles Dodgers MLB Staff), Jeff Albert (Houston Astros MLB Staff), Jason Ochart (Driveline Baseball), Matt Lawson (Missouri State University Hitting Coach/Recruiting Coordinator), Dillon Lawson (Houston Astros MiLB Hitting Coach), Jason Hart (Texas Rangers MiLB Hitting Coach), Jerry Weinstein (Colorado Rockies MiLB Player Development), Rick Strickland (Rick Strickland Baseball, St. Louis Cardinals Swing Consultant),  and Jarrett DeHart (Seattle Mariners MiLB Hitting Instructor).

What is the speaker format? Each speaker will spend 30-40 minutes on the main stage speaking and then 20-30 minutes in the batting cage demonstrating some of their favorite drills and routines they regularly do with hitters.

When is SlugFest 2018? November 17-18, 2018. Saturday, November 17th will feature six speakers beginning at 9:00 AM and will conclude at 7:00 PM. Sunday, November 18th will feature three speakers beginning at 8:00 AM and concluding at 12:00 PM. A formal schedule of speakers and events will be provided to attendees closer to the event.

Where is SlugFest 2018? The event is being hosted by Missouri State University in the Bill Rowe Indoor Training Facility at Hammons Field in Springfield, MO. The address is 955 E Trafficway St, Springfield, MO 65802.

What does SlugFest 2018 cost? $175.00 Registration fee and is open to any and all who wish to attend.

Does SlugFest offer any discounts on local hotels? Yes, University Plaza in Springfield, MO is the official hotel of SlugFest 2018. They are offering a room rate of $89.00 plus tax per night that includes two breakfast vouchers per room per day. Will there by any sort of Q&A sessions? On the evening of Saturday, November, 17th there will be opportunities for informal round-table discussions and a general social with all speakers in attendance in the atrium of University Plaza. There will be a cash bar available to attendees. More information regarding this informal social will be released closer to the event.
